# Can employees decline an assigned shift?

## Employees cannot decline an assigned shift — but they can try to swap it with a colleague.

### Can employees decline a shift?

No — once you as a manager have assigned a shift to an employee, they **cannot decline** or delete it themselves.

### What can the employee do?

If an employee cannot work an assigned shift, they can try to **swap the shift with a colleague**:

1. The employee opens the shift in the app.
2. They activate the **“Request shift back”** function, making the shift available to colleagues.
3. A colleague offers a shift in return.
4. The employee approves the swap shift.
5. You as the manager give the final approval.

The manager always has final say — no swap is completed without manager approval.
