How to deactivate an employee

Learn how to properly terminate and deactivate an employee in Frontliners, including how to handle future shifts.

Before you deactivate

Before deactivating an employee, make sure all their future shifts are handled. You have three options:

  • Delete the shifts - removes them from the schedule entirely.
  • Open the shifts - makes them available for other employees to pick up.
  • Transfer to a specific employee - assigns all future shifts to a colleague of your choice.

Step by step

  1. Go to Staff (Manage staff) in the left menu.
  2. Click on the employee you want to deactivate.
  3. Click Terminate.
  4. Set the termination date (the employee's last working day).
  5. Choose what to do with future shifts: delete, open, or transfer to another employee.
  6. Confirm the termination.

If you get an error

If you cannot deactivate an employee because of remaining shifts, make sure:

  • All shifts on or after the termination date are deleted or reassigned.
  • Check both published and unpublished shifts.
  • If shifts appear to be deleted but the error persists, try refreshing the page and attempting again.

After deactivation

A deactivated employee will no longer appear in the active employee list or be available for scheduling. Their historical data (shifts, salary, etc.) is preserved.
