# Public holidays for employees with flex time

## How to register public holidays without counting them as vacation

### How to handle public holidays for flex-time employees

Employees with flex time do not automatically get public holidays off in Frontliners. To ensure correct time tracking without deducting from their vacation balance, a fictive shift is used.

### Step by step

1. Go to the schedule for the relevant public holiday.
2. Create a new shift for the employee with their normal working hours (standard hours).
3. Write **Paid day off / Public holiday** in the comment field on the shift.

This way the employee gets their normal hours registered, the time balance is not affected, and it does not count as vacation.
