GPS location error when clocking in on Android
Is the employee getting a message saying they are too far from the workplace? Here's how to fix GPS issues on Android.
Clock-in error: "You are too far from the workplace"
Some employees with Android phones experience errors when clocking in, because the system believes they are not at the workplace. This is usually caused by the phone's GPS not being accurate enough.
Please check the following:
1. Enable location
- Go to Settings
- Select Location
- Make sure location is turned on
2. Allow precise location
- Go to Settings → Location → App permissions
- Find the browser/app used for clocking in
- Enable Precise location
3. Allow location in the browser (if clocking in via web)
- Open the browser settings
- Find Permissions → Location
- Select Allow
4. Test that the phone shows the correct location
- Open the maps app on the phone
- Check whether the blue dot shows your actual position
- If it is inaccurate, wait a moment or step outside and try again
5. Wait a few seconds before clocking in
The phone may need a moment to find a precise GPS position. Once the location is accurate, clocking in should work without any issues.
