How to pay out an extra shift for a salaried employee

Activate the payout option on individual shifts for fixed-salary employees

When is this relevant?

If a salaried employee works an extra shift beyond their normal working hours — and that shift should trigger a separate payment — you need to activate the payout option on the shift.

Note: If it is just regular overtime that does not require a separate payment, you do not need to do anything. The system automatically tracks hours beyond the agreed weekly hours as overtime.

Prerequisite: The employee must be set as salaried

This feature only works if the employee pay basis is set to Fixed monthly salary. Check this in the employee profile and update it if needed.

How to activate the payout option

  1. Go to the schedule and open the extra shift.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the shift details.
  3. Activate the toggle Pay out this shift.
  4. Save the shift.

The shift will now be included as an extraordinary payment in the payroll export.
