How to use roles as salary supplements

Learn how to set up roles like 'Short notice' or 'Summer supplement' to add extra pay.

Using roles for pay supplements

In Frontliners, you can use roles creatively to handle salary supplements. For example, if employees receive extra pay for short-notice shifts or summer work, you can create dedicated roles for these.

How to set it up

  1. Go to Staff (Manage staff) in the left menu.
  2. Click Roles on the right side.
  3. Press “Add” to create a new role — for example, “Short Notice” or “Summer Supplement”.
  4. Choose a color for the role and click Save.
  5. Now assign the role to the relevant employees by editing each employee and adding the role.

Assigning supplement roles to employees

Currently, roles are assigned to employees one at a time. Go to each employee’s profile, click edit, and add the supplement role.

Using it in the schedule

When creating a shift, select the supplement role instead of the regular role. The employee’s salary rate for that role will apply, giving them the correct supplement pay.

Tip

Set a different hourly rate on the supplement role to reflect the extra pay. This way, when you schedule a shift with that role, the correct salary is calculated automatically.
